Lost to Sickness: Weekly Recap

Lost to Sickness: Weekly Recap

I’ve decided to get back into the habit of doing weekly training recaps. It’s been a while since I did them, especially as my week would go – Swim, Bike, Run – all done and green on training peaks. Now that I’m on my own and in charge of my own training, it is a good reflection on where I am and where I hope to be on April 24th.

Weekly Recap

Monday – After an awesome week at Nashville Opryland with friends, I moved my long run to Monday and crazy ultra ladies Joy and Laura joined me for the long 10 miles (long for me, it’s no big distance for them). I was a bit nervous that the vacation and eating junk would catch up to me and I wasn’t feeling quite all that after getting in rather late the previous night. But the run amazed me – I felt really good and legs were flowing easy. It was a true Z2 run, without having been told to run in z2.

I enjoyed a good hour of torturous massage from Renee at Flex Body Massage. My poor poor IT band and glutes needed all the “love” and more.

Tuesday – I wasn’t wrong about something feeling off with my body. Because I fell like a ton of bricks the very next morning. Sore throat, body ache and the chills. With me, my cold descends into my chest in an instant. So what started out as a sore throat in the morning was full on elephant on chest by lunch time. So the day’s training = off.

Rest of the week – same story with training. But Mr. FauxTriathlete finished his quest of running 1000 miles in the year. The little minion ran the last mile with him and I have to admit that I was super impressed at his having stuck to it.

Minus the samosas that Mr. FauxTriathlete made. The drinks were from the little minion who was upset that her older sister made everything while she was off building legos.

On New Year’s, my running group MARC hosted an open invite resolution run. We turned up at the very last minute and were able to sneak into this photo! And met Shirley after a whole year!!

And then of course, my little one had to finish her own 1 mile run. Looks like she wants to run her own streak this year!

Having been sick, my nutrition also suffered. As in, I didn’t have the appetite to eat anything. And of course, since I’m the only person in the world who gains weight while being sick, I’m sure I did that as well.

I also decided on something – I haven’t done resolutions/even goals in almost 3 years. I have used a super word that I want to define my actions in the new year. But this time, I’m thinking of going back to goals.

What do you think? Goals? Resolutions? Super word? Who cares, just do it?
How was your week in training and otherwise?
