Weekend in the life of my Minions
My weekend started off with all good intentions – I was going to run like usual at 9:30am, an easy run for 45min or so. But when I actually started the run, my legs said no. My mind said meh. The weather said oh ho! And I walked most of those 45min with a friend. Good company and good conversation, but negative points for not attempting to run even 3 miles.
The rest of the day I chauffeured the minions around, depressed that I have gained 4.5lbs (oh let’s call it the 5lbs) since London and my upper belly seems to be popping out. Just 3 weeks and all that change – frustrating!
But then we took the older minion on her last big training ride before her triathlon next week. And the grit with which she completed her ride and then brick run inspired me! The girl had had a sleepover after a very long day and she was short on sleep, and yet did not complain a single word when she saw her schedule. These are the times when I know that the minions will turn out ok in life.
It was a race to the finish after her 5mile bike ride and 1.5 mile brick run. In the humid overcast middle of the day at 11am.
The little minion, who’s my trail runner wasn’t too happy running though. She had her full share of whines and dramatics. But then she more than made up for it with this absolute gem of a cartoon that she copied from Asterix and Obelix. I know she’s my baby and all, but dang! I can’t draw half as much! I’ll have to keep encouraging her to draw. And take her trail running.
What do you think of her cartoon?
Next week, they start camp. And that means the usual busy week with lunches and snacks and packing everything, and early morning wakeups for me.
