Virtual 5k Results

What a virtual 5k that was! The support over the internet from the running group was awesome and it was great to see so many people push themselves to a 5k and quite a few PRs along the way! We sure are a bunch of crazy people for racing without the need for a reward just because a complete stranger asks them to join her!

Here are the people that checked in after the run, in no particular order.

Susan Yarbroug – Christy Stanford Gravitt & I clocked 35:51 (thanks for hanging with me, Christy!) and… oh yeah…the best time I’ve clocked this summer… so that happened #Irana5K

Linda Whitmore Reilly Ran 5K with my daughter as a pacer on her bike. Time: 26:08

Kim Chadd My daughter, grandson (in the jogging stroller) and I did it in 38:09. Beautiful day!

Jennifer K Taylor  Just getting back into running so I tried my first 5k today after about a year-3.11miles in 39:14, bummed about it at first since I was doing more like 32 but PR for 2014 so that is good  I will take it! Great idea.

Vickie Knapp I did 3.1 this morning. It was not pretty and my lack of consistent running was felt. 38:28 is my time. I had to walk the end because I had to pee and couldn’t run. Thanks for the motivation! I have been in a running slump and seeing this yesterday and committing to it today got me out the door this morning.

Did Smitha Barki’s Virtual 5K yesterday – ‪#‎IRaceda5K‬. Really just wanted a consistent run but ended up w/ 1) A sub-30 finish (28:16); 2) Negative splits, including final mile @ 8:40 and 3) no walk breaks. Thanks againSmitha for the motivation!

Sumina Aldhizer 5k in 32.24. It was 90° & very humid…glad to have it behind me. Thank you for organizing the run! I can honestly say I wouldn’t have run today if I hadn’t committed to.She ran again the next day to a better time!

I just ran the virtual 5k and I’m so pumped I did a sub-30!! I pushed, and I think I still had more! I have really been underestimating myself, I think. Thanks for the push and awesome group mentality here!! My mantra tonight was GFU, or “get f-ing uncomfortable”

Emily Bray Levine  – Did mine in 28:53 – hated the run, loved the time. Go figure!

This is not what I planned to do, and it felt like crap, but ‪#‎IRanA5K‬ just 15 seconds off my PR. Actually, I blame/credit Kim Johnson since I went out faster than I intended, but I thought, “Kim says if it’s not uncomfortable, you’re only running, not racing.” No post-race selfie but you do see the evidence of the 93% humidity.

Didn’t push myself as hard as I wanted to because my intention was to get my 7 mile training run in but then I realized my time for the 5K wouldn’t me bad even with a slow first mile, so while not a PR for me I will take it at 28:11!! Especially since I rowed my first 5K in 26:12 about 30 mins before running = heavy legs congrats everyone on pushing yourselves!!

Brian Heck –

First the bad: it was 90 deg with 70% humidity (99 heat index). This was my 5th run back since I took a 2 month break to rest my feet. Didn’t go too well. But I wanted to run for my best friend who can’t run at all right now.
The good: I finished. I didn’t die. Best friends are amazing!

Ran a trail 5K in new Hokas for the 5K challenge. I was hoping to hit the 32 range, but I had a great run & felt brazen enough to shed my shirt, so I’ll take it. Thank you for the challenge! This is just what I need to put more pep in my step.

Virtual 5K. It is a sub-30 and it would’ve been better if I hadn’t gotten a stitch in my side at 3.07 miles. It hit and I thought “A stitch? NOW?!? What the…? Don’t care, gonna get that sub-30 even if I puke. Who’s crazy idea was this anyway? Why the heck am I running out here at 6am like a loon?!? Oh! I finished! YEAH!” I didn’t puke. lol ‪#‎IRacedA5K
