My First Run

My First Run

Today, I ran on the roads outside my house. Ran for 3 miles.
The weather was just perfect.
The first 10-15 minutes was uncomfortable.
The middle 10-15 was tolerable.
The last 20 minutes definitely tried to kill me and I had to walk up almost every mountain I encountered. I wanted to give it up and call Guru to pick me up instead, but the baby was sleeping and I didn’t want him to have to bring her out. And so I continued.

Since all this running hoopla started because of him, I gave him the stink eye when I returned, tossed my shoes aside and collapsed on the couch (with my icky sweat and salted crustiness sticking to the leather) and proceeded not to move from the couch for the rest of the day.

My first run ever reinforced what I already knew. Ugh .. I hate running.

What in the world induced me to sign up for a HALF MARATHON???? An insanely long distance of 13.1 miles!! THIRTEEN POINT ONE MILES!!!  I don’t even like client projects which require me to drive more than 10 miles.

3 long months of training, and then thankfully running will be a thing of the past.
